E-tivities : the key to active online learning / Gilly Salmon
While many instructors mistakenly see online learning as needing to follow the same pattern as classroom interaction, and many students are concerned with the reduced social contact in learning online, Gilly Salmon's E-tivities shows both instructors and students how to develop skills to really acquire valuable learning online.
E-tivities are motivating, engaging, purposeful activities led by an e-moderator to enable students to learn online. Salmon explores the importance of online activities, has suggestions for designing and running e-tivities and has developed a five-stage model of teaching and learning online: Access and motivation, online socialization, information exchange, knowledge construction and development.
