Last chance bay / Anne Laurel Carter

Set in Cape Breton Island during World War II, Last chance bay is the story of Meg Christie, a young girl who dreams of flying like her heroines Amelia Earhart and Beryl Markham. Meg's dream is unlikely to come true. Her father, like most other men in town, works in the local coal mine and struggles to make ends meet. There is no extra money to pay for dreams like learning to fly.
